Governance structure
CLIM-AMAZON governance structure includes a Management Team, a Steering Committee and five WPs (Work Packages). CLIM-AMAZON is led by two scientific coordinators, Dr. Franck Poitrasson at CNRS/ IRD (Centre national de recherche scientifique/Institut de recherche pour le développement) and Dr. Elton Luiz Dantas at IG/UnB (Instituto de Geociências/Universidade de Brasília).
The Management Team implements CLIM-AMAZON strategy as approved by the Steering Committee. It is responsible for administrative, contractual, legal and financial management with the assistance of the Work Package Leaders. It includes the Coordinator, the Co-coordinator and the Project Manager.
The Steering Committee is the decision-making entity of the project. It includes the Management Team and the Work Package Leaders. The Steering Committee makes sure that the strategy adopted for the CLIM-AMAZON project is respected through the monitoring of the following activities:
- Project implementation in keeping with the project road map and monitoring corrective actions, including the review of deliverables;
- Endorsing the budget and the financial allocation of the EU contribution among the different activities and among the various beneficiaries, with annual validation of actual expenditure in accordance with the budget;
- Contractual changes, like the inclusion of new partners;
- Approving all reports and deliverables required under the Grant Agreement.
The WP Leaders (Work Package Leaders ) are IRD and UnB researchers. Each of them is responsible for ensuring that the overall project objectives for his/her WP is met. Their work consists in preparing the decisions to be taken by the Steering Committee and ensuring that these decisions are properly implemented. They are also in charge of addressing and documenting internal risks that may impair progress towards the objectives of the WP and suggesting strategies to anticipate and minimize such internal risks.
The Project Officer (PO) is the person responsible for the monitoring of our FP7 project at the EC (European Commission). As project coordinating institution, IRD is the PO interlocutor on behalf of the CLIM-AMAZON consortium.
