National Council of Scientific and Technologic Development

The CNPq National Council of Scientific and Technologic Development is an agency of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). Its main duties are to promote scientific and technological research and encourage the training of Brazilian researchers. Created in 1951, CNPq plays an important role in formulating and implementing science, technology and innovation policies. Its work contributes to the national development and to the recognition of the Brazilian research institutions and researchers by the international scientific community.

Petrobras

Petrobras is a publicly traded corporation of which the Government of Brazil is the majority stockholder. It acts as an energy company in the following sectors: oil and gas exploration, production, refining; trading and transportation; petrochemicals and distribution of oil products, electric energy, biofuels and other renewable energy sources. A leader in the Brazilian oil industry, Petrobras has expanded its operations, aiming to be among the top five integrated energy companies in the world by 2020. It has a presence in 28 countries. The 2012-2016 Business Plan calls for investments of some $236.5 billion.
